OPEN POSITION: After-School Program Director / Part-Time
SUMMARY:
The Noel Pointer Foundation (NPF) is currently seeking an After-School Program Director (PD). This is a part-time position that will follow the DOE’s 2025-2026 school year calendar. The PD will work at a DOE facility located in Harlem, NY, whose participants are middle school students, ranging in grades from 6-8.
The PD will be responsible for the management and supervision of a school-based, After-School Program. Responsibilities include involvement in all aspects of daily program operations. The PD will also be assigned administrative duties, including data entry, and must be organized and efficient in multi-tasking. This position also requires planning, development, and attention to various aspects associated with human resources. Computer literacy and strong organizational skills are required. A collaborative spirit, skillset in supporting middle school students with building and navigating peer relationships as well as a positive can-do attitude are essential for this position. The PD reports to the NPF Supervisor, and additional tasks may be assigned, as needed, to accomplish program goals.
The ideal candidate must possess an employment history that includes knowledge of the requirements by agencies such as DYCD and DOHMH to ensure that NPF maintains an emotionally and physically safe environment for students that meet all compliance and safety regulations set forth by the organization and said agencies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Management of daily operations, including communication with the school's administration, teachers, secretaries, cafeteria and custodial staff;
· Build strong relationships with the school principal and administrative team to facilitate seamless integration of NPF staff and expanded hours into the overall school culture;
· Build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders (participants, parents, school staff and administration, the community, DYCD, DOHMH, and NPF);
· Familiarity with DYCD and DOHMH regulations, specifically in student registration and enrollment, rate of participation, student-teacher ratio, and ensure that all contractual requirements are met;
· Maintain up-to-date documents such as the school partnership memorandum, building permits, and insurance certificates;
· Create staff and activity schedules, ensure logistics such as snack and program spaces are arranged, plan trips, submit supply requests, and address programmatic needs;
· Recruitment of participants, which may include calling, e-mailing, posting announcements, holding information sessions, encouraging students, answering applicant questions and other strategies to motivate students to enroll and continue participation on a consistent basis;
· Ensure that student attendance is being properly collected, stored, and recorded; and meet deadlines for data entry into the DYCD Connect database;
· Ensure that the DYCD Connect database is updated weekly with student attendance, and annually for the submission of the work scope;
· Conduct classroom observations; report information back to the NPF Supervisor on a consistent basis and address concerns as they arise;
· Maintain current staff and student files, incident and accident reports, fire drill and shelter-in-place logs, and other required documentation and student data;
· Recruit, hire, and train effective program staff, capable of leading middle school students and managing middle school classrooms;
· Conduct performance reviews and evaluations of program staff;
· Provide site-based support and professional development for all staff in order to ensure success in the implementation of program objectives;
· Ensure new hires have taken appropriate steps prior to beginning work assignments (i.e., DOHMH and DOE background clearance, completed OCFS trainings, and NPF payroll forms);
· Submit all staff clearance forms (OCFS 6000 Series) on the OCFS / FAMS online database;
· Ensure all staff have appropriate training certificates and clearance documents on-site;
· Ensure that timesheets are accurately completed and submitted to Payroll on time;
· Collaborate with NPF Education Specialist and instructors to build and implement best-in-class systems, processes, procedures, and tools to support enrichment-based curriculum;
· Collaborate with program staff to present mid-year and/or end-of-year student exhibitions or performances, and archive photographs of student events and activities;
· Complete all required DYCD and OCFS trainings, as well as any other required licensing trainings; and
· Create a strong sense of community which values respect, acceptance, and high expectations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required with preference in Education or a related field. At least 18.0 credit hours from an accredited college or university in the field of Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field is highly preferred.
· Two (2) years direct experience, working with children less than 13 years of age.
· One (1) year working in a supervisory capacity with adults in a child care program or related field of work.
· First Aid CPR AED Certified
· Program Directors are required to complete a mandatory 15-hour OCFS Health and Safety course within three (3) months of employment to maintain Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) compliance at site.
