ABOUT THE POSITION
The Director of Programs is Bloomingdale’s senior educational leader, responsible for shaping curriculum, faculty leadership, and the student experience across all instructional formats—on-site, off-site, and online. This role oversees the full arc of Bloomingdale’s educational programs, including private lessons, group classes, advanced tracks (MAP, Project Bridge, BTP, A4TY, Youth Leadership), and introductory and community-based offerings. The Director ensures that programming remains accessible, mission-aligned, and responsive to the needs of Bloomingdale’s diverse learning community.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director collaborates closely with the school’s leadership team, particularly the Director of Student Services, to ensure a cohesive and integrated experience for students and their families. The role supervises the Programs Manager and a new part-time Assistant Director focused on outreach and community-facing programs, including school partnerships, early childhood classes, summer offerings, and online initiatives. The Director also works closely with study area leaders and faculty to support curriculum development, instructional quality, and faculty culture, and coordinates with the Event Manager on program-related performances and events.
This role plays a key part in sustaining a strong, inclusive faculty culture, with leadership responsibilities - shared with other members of Bloomingdale’s leadership, the Faculty Director, and faculty - that include coordinating Study Area Leaders and RTAs across departments such as voice, piano, strings, theory, jazz, early childhood, adult instruction, and concert curation.
A highly collaborative leadership position, the Director of Programs blends strategic oversight with hands-on management. The role is central to aligning Bloomingdale’s educational vision with its day-to-day operations, ensuring that all programs advance the mission and goals of ROADMAP 2027 while fostering a welcoming and enriching environment for students, families, and faculty alike.
